NAVLE

All candidates must apply for the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE) through a state or provincial licensing board. For sponsorship by the New Mexico Board of Veterinary Medicine (NMBVM), a candidate must submit the completed application along with a notarized photocopy of candidate’s diploma and the fee. See check list below.

The sponsorship fee ($65) is separate and not part of the NAVLE fee ($550) paid to the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB). Sponsorship fee should be made payable and mailed to the NMBVM. The NMBVM requires a notarized photocopy of your diploma where you earned your degree in veterinary medicine, or a letter from the Dean of the school stating that you are a fourth-year student in good academic standing and will graduate in the spring. The letter must come directly from the Dean to the NMBVM.

Sponsorship by NMBVM must be approved by July 15, 2015 for the November – December 2015 testing window and January 15, 2016 for the April 11-23, 2016 testing window. Do not delay in sending payment—you will not be permitted to take the NAVLE unless both the AAVSB examination fee and Board sponsorship fee have been paid. For a more detailed description of the NAVLE, refer to the National Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners at www.nbvme.org.

Candidates with documented disabilities covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) who require special test accommodations must provide the NMBVM with documentation that substantiates their special needs before applying for the NAVLE.

Any candidate approved by the Board as eligible to take the NAVLE during the fall test window who does not achieve a passing score on the examination will be considered approved by the NMBVM to retake the examination during the spring test window.

If you have questions about this application or need assistance, please contact the NMBVM office.
